Slim-fast
Published 03/31/2006 | Low Calorie | Rating:

Someone who weighs less than 140 pounds will consume 2 Slim-Fast meal combinations, 3 fruits or vegetables and 1 sensible meal. For breakfast, a meal combination will be a Slim-Fast Optima Bar or Smoothie, along with six ounces of fat-free yogurt.

A meal combination lunch features a Slim-Fast Optima Bar or Shake, plus a half a whole-wheat English muffin with marinara sauce and part-skim milk mozzarella. There are plenty of different combos to choose from depending on your taste preferences.

The sensible meal eaten for dinner should be no more than 500 calories. Your plate is into ¼ protein, ¼ starch and ½ vegetables, along with a side salad and a dish of fruit.

Slim-Fast also endorses regular exercise and plenty of water as aids to health and weight loss. Studies have shown that people who follow the Slim-Fast plan are able to shed their extra pounds in a safe, healthy manner.

According to the Slim-Fast tenets, there are four keys to success. For starters, it requires a personalized, balanced diet that keeps your appetite under control. In addition, you'll need a customized activity program. In addition, there is support around the clock at the online support center. There are also food and fitness plans to help dieters monitor their progress.

I would be interested in either getting started on the Slim Fast Diet, or the South Beach Diet. I'm not really sure which one is best for me. Based on my profile which one do you think would work better for me?

Slim fast Optima is the best tasting of any of the Slimfast shakes overt the years. I love the Cappucino flavor. I drink one in the morning before the gym (no time to eat) and will grab one in the afternoon when I need a snack and something sweet. The main drawback for me is the cost but then I remind myself I would gladly pay 1 for Hostess so the cost is the same but the health benefits are worth the cost :)

This was a good review, it offers a the option of a do it yourself plan for people who don't want to get tied in to a "program".

I've tried slim fast before all the new stuff came out and it worked with determination. Now with the shakes and meal plans it appears to be alot easier. I don't understand why they only focused in on those that are 140lbs. It will work for any weight if you want to do it.

Are there any type I diabetics out there who have tried this program. Or does Slim Fast have a program for people with diabetic related health problems?

I noticed there is no information here about how successful people have been able to keep off the weight in say, 6-12 months. Neither is there mention about the tastiness of the meal choices offered by this plan. For some reason, people have a hard time sticking to a mere meal replacement shake or bar. Also, the shakes might give you just that from the low calories. There was a reason my friends called it the "Slim-slow" diet plan.

I have lost 25 pounds with the help of slim fast and regular exercise, and for me that is allot, as I have choric pain, two bad knees, bad spine, but I find now, that losing the weight and exercising has help allot, I has also mirgraines on a daily basis, so if I can do it with the help of slim fast any one who wants to can. You have to have the will to want to and the will to do the regular exercises, yes some days I don't feel like it, but I feel better after I do, so thank you

I am 5'3" tall. I weigh 160 and would really like to lose 30 pounds. I try to exercise, but need much motivation. I work 3rd shift so I may eat in the morning or not. If I do eat, I try to exercise. I sleep most of the day so it's hard to be on a eating schedule. Help!!

This sounds possible. But like everything else it will need to battle and defeat the midnight monsters that crowd around and subdue me. With fingers crossed and battle gear in mind I go to war!

I went on this diet and lost weight, but it was a slow go. I finally got to a point where I just couldn't drink another drop of the canned meal replacement - any flavor. Currently, I walk daily, take supplements, eat less, and eat healthy. It works just as well. My grandmother was right: "To lose weight, eat half of what you usually eat and do more (work, exercise, etc.)".
