Apple Cider Vinegar Diet
Published 03/2/2006 | Other | Rating:

Many claims have been made about the benefits of apple cider as an aid to weight loss. However, the jury is still out, way out, as to whether or not the properties of this acidic solution that's produced by fermenting apples is really valuable at all. Supposedly, combining acidic vinegar with fruit pectin creates a fat-burning effect.

While recent studies show that pectin does lower cholesterol, there's no real proof that there is any correlation with weight loss.  But you better have an iron stomach if you're going to follow the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet. You'll need to consume up to three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before every meal. It's recommended that you start with just one teaspoon and work your way up. And more isn't better. Don't surpass the three-teaspoon mark.

As far as what you should be eating, the only guidelines are to consume moderate portions, avoid snacking, and wait for the apple cider vinegar to reduce your hunger and food cravings. Don't forget to down your apple cider vinegar 15 to 20 minutes before each meal.

For your convenience, there are now apple cider vinegar tablets or small medicine bottles with an eye dropper on the market for when your bottle of the good stuff is out of reach.

tried this, it was hell on my throat too, wouldn't recommend it, didn't see any real results except for an irritated esophagus, this can also erode the enamel on your teeth if the acid touches them day after day, get the pills if you want to try it, but I wouldn't!!!!!!

Apple cider vinegar is good for you and if it helps reduce cravings, that is good, too. However, it should be "good" vinegar, the kind you get at a health food store not the regular market. I have no such source where I am so have to rely on regular market stuff At 80 and having taken vinegar or vinegar and honey every day for 40 years, I have to feel it has helped me some way and especially to maintain my desired weight.

I know that this diet works,But I also know,if you have a medical problem it will not work. When I was younger in good health, I used this diet to control my weight. After getting older and on meds for health problems no matter how much vingar&honey I took,it did nothing for the weight,Althought I feel it only how you use vingar for natural weight loss.

i have tried this it works. Don't take the vinegar straight. It is ok to put in a small amount of water. Also add honey for healthful boost. the key is to take it before your meals. i found it does curb appetite and cravings.

Quite a few years ago I followed the apple cider vinegar diet without knowing it. The easiest and healthiest way is to put it on a salad and eat it beforeyou eat your main meals. If I remember gorrectly I used about 2 teaspoons on a salad with salt and pepper-no oil and ate pretty much anything else I wanted-even fried chicken and fudge. Of course I was younger and had a more active metabolism. I also walked alot. Still without much effort I was losing about 3 lbs. a week totalling almost a hundred lbs. I think i should try it again. I will let you know if it works again for over fifty.

I have not tried this diet I do however use one tablespoon of apple cider vineger a day with juice, apple or grape. Or I drink it with tea and honey. If I feel a cold coming on I will drink it up to three times a day. One tbl. spoon each time. It really seems to help health wise.

I am suspicious of any diet that focuses on one specific food for losing weight. This does not sound healthy to me. The best way to lose weight is watch your portion sizes, choose low fat foods, and exercise.

I have tried this before. It is also supposed to be good for most any health problem also, including arthritis, heart problems, high blood pressure, etc. However, I hate the taste of vinegar and gag when I try to drink it. I have added a tsp. of honey to it, which is also helpful for all the above, but it irritates my throat and after I drink it, i have a sore throat for several hours.

I have read quite a bit about apple cider vinegar and do find it has healthful properties. Although using it "straight" would not be a problem for me, it does seem clear that that would have to be in addition to another weight management plan.

I've been using Apple Cider Vinegar now for 3 weeks as a tonic mixed in a glass of water. I drink it throughout the day. The week before I started taking Apple Cider Vinegar I weaned myself off sugary tea's and coffee's (had terrible headaches) and just drank herbal tea and molasses in warm water. My tummy was upset the first week but now I have a flat tummy for the first time ever. I've been a size UK 14 for years and wasn't expecting weight loss but was surprised to see this happen. Now I don't have painful bloating, I feel positive, its reduced food cravings for bread and sugar. I feel younger and look it too - I didn't realise before how much water retention I held on my face and neck and thats gone now. I'd recommend it - you eventually acquire the taste.

I have found this very helpful in the past. Now however my stomach is very sensitive to acid. Even though they make capsuls with apple cider vinager, with and without other ingretdients, it stills makes my stomach hurt. To those who can use apple cider vingar I say: "Go For It"

I have not used the apple cider for a diet but I do take it just before bed. I take 1 tablespoon in a large glass of water. It is an all natural way to help you sleep. I have read that it relaxes your nervous system and helps you stay asleep. Even if I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I can still go back to sleep with this. I have told all my friends and family and they can't believe it. I take it all the time and I know that it works. I paln to start to use it as a diet plan now.

I add a spoonful to a bottle of water a spoon of honey and drank it down 3 times a day. It helps me go to the restroom on a regular schedule. I will keep in touch to let you know how I am doing.

Buy a book titles APPLE CIDAR VINEGAR, author BRAGG.
Alot of info in that seven dollar book. You can buy the APV in the health food section or health food store by the name of BRAGG. You NEED the floaties (called Mother) in the vinegar. Educate yourself on this. It is a GOOD thng!

Three corrections to your article: You don't have to have an iron stomach to use vinegar (actually, vinegar solution nicely regulates your digestive system, gets rid of your acid reflux, and helps many other ailments you might have). Do not use vinegar tablets, as they're not the same as real ACV. You're not goint to destroy your tooth enamel during max 5 minutes it takes you to drink the vinegar solution. Your saliva will restore the "normal" ph very quickly. Just don't sip the vinegar continuously. The solution should be maximum 2 tbsp of vinegar per 8oz of water, plus 1 tbsp of honey to taste. Benefits are countless, one of them: it will protect you from spoiled food, as it will reduce bacteria count in it. Cheers!

I take apple cider vinegar (braggs) at least 3 tsp with 2 tsp of maple syrup grade b( found in health food stores) 3 times a day before meals. OMG I have lost about 13 lbs while using it. In about a 3 week time period. Well it definately lowers my appetite and I also feel like it works on my metabolism. I feel a cynergistic effect going on with my body. I'm committed to taking it everyday. So the review is that it works for me. And for any Christian man or woman, I believe I was led of the Lord to this aid in losing weight after much seeking. Take care. God bless.

Hey, I just started taking Apple Cider Vinegar today as advised by a friend of mine. He told me to drink it three times a day with a normal bottle of water, though he didn't specifically say how much of the Vinegar to use. He said something like a capful of the Vinegar, but I have been reading on here to do a tps in each bottle? Is this correct? I just don't want to use too much or too little. Please if anyone knows let me know, thanks. Also I just started taking seizure medication and would like to know if thats a problem? Though I wouldn't think it is. My friend who told me about this diet is taking it also and he also takes seizure medication. I am also taking multi-vitamin pills and fish oil pills. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
