Suzanne Somers
Published 03/31/2006 | Low Carb | Rating:

Somers says: swear off sugars and foods that break down into sugar. Protein and fats are not to be eaten with carbs. Protein and veggies should be eaten together. Consume carbs and vegetables together. Fruit should only be consumed by itself on an empty stomach. Wait three hours before switching combinations. Meals should not be skipped.

Somers' plan is currently being offered online by eDiets.com. The diet depot  has the Suzanne Somers Weight-Loss Plan. Among the promises are that you'll get lean and trim, enjoy delicious meals and snacks, never feel deprived and much more.

The experts at eDiets explain that with the weight-loss plan, you'll figure out how to rev up a stalling metabolism. Perhaps the most appetizing aspect on the online version of Somers' program is the mouthwatering meals.

Here is what one day on the plan looks like...

Breakfast:  Huevos Rancheros
Lunch:  Artichoke Pasta With Fresh Tomato Sauce And Balsamic Spinach Salad
Dinner:  Steak With Herb Butter, Sautéed Mushrooms And Zucchini And Balsamic Tomato Slices
Dessert:  Veggie Sticks With Blue Cheese Vinaigrette

I used this diet for several months and had great success with it (although I did combine it with taking an ephedra supplement). It is less restrictive than Atkins. You can have protein and veggies together and carbs and veggies together (and even fruit) so you don't feel deprived of carbs (but they must be as unrefined as possible - whole grains, brown or wild rice). It is also more healthy than Atkins as you are getting veggies and fruits and carbs.
