Why is the black dress so symbolic?
The little black dress, or little black suit for a man, is something you can wear anywhere in any situation. Just like the black dress you can take anywhere, this is the diet you can take anywhere – to holidays, events, restaurants, even your own kitchen. You can eat anywhere according to life on the skinny and feel like you’re really enjoying your food just like you can enjoy your black dress.
Can you talk about your black dress moment?
My kids were about 11 months old. I didn’t really start thinking about my weight until after their 1st birthdays. I tried on my black dress that I had worn to 10 weddings and I was like “oh, this is so not happening.” I went out and bought another black dress that I knew I could always wear. But I didn’t want to have to wear it.
Do you still have the original black dress?
No, I got rid of it. But it wouldn’t fit me now anyways. It would be too big. This is the thinnest I’ve been since high school.
What are your favorite foods and how often do you eat them?
Chocolate chip cookies… Bagels and lox… Pizza with eggplant and garlic…
Is it possible to eat what you love and maintain a great figure?
Yes, it really is possible. You can eat what you love. You can’t eat maybe all of what you think you want to eat. The key is stopping when you’re full or stopping when you’ve had enough to satisfy your urge. Shortly after starting life on the skinny, I desperately wanted a Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. I just wanted to have one. I knew after one it was just the sensation of slightly sweet and salty and it wasn’t going to do quite as much for as the first one. So I had one and threw the other one away. If I had held onto it for my husband, I would have eaten it in 20 minutes.
