Body by God
Published 03/3/2006 | Low Carb | Rating:

Even the man upstairs is weighing in on the obesity issue - or at least his spokesman is. Author Dr. Ben Lerner (chiropractor) describes Body by God as the Un-Diet, a plan that calls for you to turn away from food by man (processed foods) and turn toward food by God, foods that don't leave poisons or fat hanging around in the body. Dr. Lerner created the Un-Diet Food Guide, which will help you exorcize those unhealthy foods.

It's a 40 Day (but of course) plan that helps you get 1% better for the big guy every day. So in just 40 days, you'll be 40% better than you were when you started Body by God. The five main components of Body by God are the Un-Diet (the nutrition part), Movement (the exercise part), Peace Management, Time Management and The 40 Day Plan.

By following the Body By God guidelines, you'll move toward your weight naturally. Dr. Lerner also stresses these commandments of healthy living. Eliminate processed carbs such as bread, pasta and other flour products. Avoid all carbohydrate-rich foods after your lunch. Consume only green vegetables instead of carbohydrates in the late afternoon and evening. Make water and vegetable juices your drink of choice and avoid coffee, tea or soda. For the most part, eliminate Food by Man.

With Dr. Lerner's Fat Utilization Rate (F.U.R.), you'll have to get moving, but only as little as 15 minutes a day.

Hello To Whom it May Concern, in your issue about Body by God I have a concern you started it out with the man upstairs that man upstairs has a name God the FATHER,God the SON and God the Holy Spirit and when I call on him I cry out to JESUS so yes he came to earth born of a virgin name Mary and was man on earth but after all that JESUS has went through for you and then you want to turn around and say the man upstairs your relationship with Jesus must not be to close with him or else you would be under conviction for even suggesting that phrase well I will be praying for you that you will have a hunger to have even a deeper relationship with him He Loves you so much that He went through a beating for you took stripes on his back for your healing and nails in his hand and feet and did you see how wide his arms was stretched that is the just how much he loves this world that keeps slapping him in the face He has already done His part and I do not think it is right for all of us to keep slapping him in the face with something we say or do wrong no he does not expect us to be perfect the only that can happen is for us to always allow him to live through us daily not just once in a while! I am not judging you or condmening you I am just sharing this with you cause you do not realize how that sounds and just how many people are reading your article and I do not believe in palm reading either that you have on your site where it shows the hand and something about feeling lucky ,luck is from the devil and I curse that at the roots in Jesus name which is above every name! if you do not know Jesus all you have to do is accept him in your heart and I pray that you already are and if you are not I pray you do not wait to late also you cannot serve GOD AND mammon to in other words you can serve GOD AND THE devil so if you are not saved truly saved you have a choice to make and I pray that it is the right one? Sincerely Jill Smith who is concerned! p.s. you have a great tool this internet to witness JESUS to others that is if you are not ashamed of the gospel ! also a suggestion when you start witnessing I pray that JESUS will start putting you under conviction to get like that hand that is considered palm reading off of your site so again you will be in my prayers! on my email the w stands for warrior so see I will go into prayer for you and believe me JESUS has answered prayers for me it may not always be like I wanted it but that is okay cause JESUS knows what is best for my life!

God bless you Jill. This is my first time to this site and if Jill wouldn't have done such a good job I would be writing the same. Think about it the earth was made to provide food for us. Honestly everyone wants us to respect their beliefs but we demand ours are respected also. Jesus thank you for wisdom and understanding. rose

Eating has to be a way of life...if you want to be healthy and stay healthy. Any short term "diet plan" may help you loose weight, but if you do not maintain a healthy eating pattern, along with exercise...the weight will return.
The best diet is the one God gave us....He created our bodies and knows what we need to have our bodies run smoothly. This "Body by God" program introduced here fits all the diet hints given in both the Old Testiment and the New Testiment.
As far as the "Palm Reading", I agree that should not be on the site....I agree with Jill on that..
And being concerned that the writer of the review of this diet "undeified" God by referring to Him as "the man upstairs" and "the big guy". The Godhead (God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost) are worthy of All Praise, All Glory and All Honor".
Believers in Christ, and God the Father, and the Holy Ghost, have stood by for too many years and let society go to such depths of immorality, greed, and evil. I think it is high time we stood up and Glorified the Creator, the Almighty God, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
But, I also believe that how we do that is important as well. The scriptures tell us that we are to "be slow to anger", and not to act on our anger. It also tells us not to be "offended". We are to take every opportunity to teach others about the Love of God, His Mercy and His Grace. Perhaps, Jill could have been a little more tactful in the expression of her concerns without giving those of us who are Believers in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit a bad name....however, as the end draws near....we will be outnumbered and no matter how much tact we use, we will not be liked. Just look at how all the early apostles died for their convictions.
Keep praying for revival in the hearts of all Christians, and that this Nation turns back to God.
Spend a lot of time in spiritual warfare....our battle is in the heavenlies...not with our fellow man. We are to carry God's Glory where ever we are. We get that Glory during our many intimate times with God. If we saturate ourselves with God's presence, then we are equiped to handle any situation that "evil" throws at us. And, I might add, will have the grace to exercise self discipline where eating and exercise are concerned. God is in the business of Abundant Living, Jesus said "I have come that ye might have Life and that you might have it More Abundantly". And He gives the Holy Spirit as our comfortor, advisor, teacher...so if we have any questions about our lives, all we have to do is ask God, in the name of Christ, and the Holy Spirit will deliver the answer. We don't need palm readers, sooth sayers, or astrology. Those are just imitations of the "Truth - God" Satan always tries to imitate the ways of God.
May Your Peace Rest in God,
    Lily

These are all good testimonies about our Lord and Savior. God said in the beginning that He made man in His image, so I know that we have let our bodies go to fat. But I know that the worst problem we as christians is our eating problem. If we will go back to the old testiment where Daniel told the king of Babylon that if they
were not given the portion of meat that the king had appointed for them nor given the wine that went with the meal, but bring the vegetables that he suggested for ten days that at the end the king would see the difference between these and the others who ate the meat and drinked the wine. So my queston is, how long does it take to get your body going and how long does it take to keep it on the mend? It really takes a life time to keep it there not just 40 days. keep it right. You did not say what happens after the fourty days

I was not offended by the comment "the man upstairs" because God is the MAN UPSTAIRS as opposed to the guy downstairs or better known as SATAN. By saying that it certainly is NOT taking the Lord's name in vain. If you can learn to ask God for help when you about to splurge you can lose weight! Everytime you are about to eat something ask God if it is right.

For crying out loud this is about a diet!!!!! Too much of anything is overkill, even being too religious can rub people the wrong way, the diet is right, there are too many processed foods out there and we should gravitate back towards the all natural food choices, as for my testimony, there is a much better time and place.

This is the first time I've responded or even read the comments. I think the un-diet sounds interesting. It goes along with a health & nutrition program that I am using now. Check out sonjaowens.isagenix.com (IT WORKS! IT'S AMAZING!) It does have to be a lifestyle change. I think the author uses 40 days as a reference because God has historically used 40 day periods for change throughout the Bible, but I don't think you would change your eating habits back after 40 days. As for the other comments - read #12 from Lily. We are called to respond in love, not anger.

I think every body should get a grip. Im sure the intention was not to offend anybody. I think god understands what they had to say. And Jill doesnt God say Do Not Judge ???? So I think its politically incorrect for you to have even assumed the feelings of the writter. Dont you have something beter to do? Why dont you go to one of the porn sites and preach to them. ITS A DIET REVEIW.

I agree with nic and katie- this a DIET review, not a forum on Jesus Christ. Although I certainly respect everyone's opinion, I wonder many times: "What ever happened to just praising GOD? Why can't we pray to a higher power, and not muddle everything with Jesus and the Holy Ghost? I believe in Jesus of course, but I pray to God and God alone. And I DO consider him upstairs by the way. He is certainly not DOWN stairs!
As far as the appropriate issue at hand, I think the diet sounds great. kind of a combination of many, including low carbs, but only after lunch. The concept is great, and adding the twist of following foods that are more "Godly" vs. man made makes one feel even better about following it.

Religion aside, this is not a new concept. Dr. Rex Russell (a Radiologist in Fort Smith Arkansas) wrote a book similar to this some years ago. I feel like this idea was taken from his book, not the Bible. The concept is a great one. There is a similar belief that you can lose weight if you only eat things you can carry in your pocket (not in a bowl or baggie) like nuts, fruits, fresh vegetables, etc. In other words, no brownies, cookies, cake, chips etc. because they crumble (overprocessed by man!!!!)

God is my best friend. So I use nicknames when I talk to Him. I do not use them without resepct though. My God is loveing and understanding. I also believe He has a sence of humor... Otherwise He would not have given us the ability to laugh. Jill, I personally feel that it is ok to use names such as "The Man Upstairs" or "The Big Guy" As long as there is a heart of reverance and awe. The internet and typing does take a lot of the ability to see that away. On a different note, praise God that you do not fear what others may think! =)
As far as the diet goes, we follow the Bible on so many other things (how to act and treat others for example) So, why not on how to eat? 40 days is a significant number in the Bible, but also, research proves that it takes 30 days for something to become a habit. So, following this for the rest of your life is nesecary, but also daunting. 40 days is a time frame that sounds like something most people can accomplish.

Are you people serious? I'm not sure you know where you are. This is a dieting website, the purpose of the article was to educate you on just another diet out there, nothing religious. You're right, whoever wrote the article probably doesn't know much about religion, but they're not expected to. Their expertise is supposed to be health, so if you want to critique him/her, then that is really the only thing open for debate. Don't make this a religious issue.

and if we do all of this and not have love, then it is nothing. Sometimes when we jump into something without first praying and seasoning it with kindness we can come off as too radical, then our testimony goes over their heads. I praise you for standing up for our Lord, and He knows your heart. Sometimes we, as Christians, take too harsh of a stand, thus turning people away. We want them to see Christ in us and desire that peace and joy. We don't want them to see us as another "off the deep end" fanatic. I think this sounds like a good diet to check into. God does indeed want us to be healthy so we can feel good enough to serve Him.

All of you people, especially JILL, are pathetic. They just suggest eating natural foods without processing and man-made chemicals and poisons, as my mother fed us in the seventies, and she has to go on a psychotic tirade about her prissy ass having a fit because the editors did not use one of her personal nicknames for God. You don't even want to hear the information they have, you want to make it into a big temper tantrum. It is a diet guideline, not an anti-religion rally! Grow Up Jill! You big baby!

I feel the article was very good, as far as the diet goes. I have doing this type of lifestyle chage in my diet for over a year snd I have lost 77 lbs. to date. The 40 days does have significance and it does take us at least 30 days to adjust to ANY change in our lives, but once we start that change and get beyond 30 days we are more likely to stay with it. Our bodies start craving the good things (healthy things) and don't care for the unhealthy. The refined may even make you a little sick after changing to such a healthy diet.

I also applaud Jill for taking a stand for Our God and Father. Ultimately "...every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord to glory of God the Father." Rather you are angry or offended, YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH JESUS AND STAND BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD AND GIVE ACCOUNT. I'm not talking WORKS, because they are as filthy rags before our Lord andd SaviorHe did the Work on the Cross. I was offended because I'm very tired of seeing and hearing our Lord God insulted. I disagree with the one who said you can reverently call our God "the man upstairs." Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived, God is not mocked; for what a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Ecclesiastes also says "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:.....a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;..." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Jill listened to the Lord and spoke up for Jesus. I applaud that! Our country is great in that we can share our thoughts! The sad thing is that when someone SPEAKS UP FOR JESUS OR GOD THE FATHER (who are by the way, the one and the same) they are called FANATICS. I feel we are going to face much more persecution and be called far worse as the time of Jesus and His return draw close. May the Lord Jesus bless all of you who know Him personally. May those of you who don't know our wonderful Father in heaven come to Him before it is too late. HE TRULY IS AWESOME, AND HE IS WORTHY OF ALL PRAISE, GLORY AND ADORATION. "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation..." Romans 1:16

It is unfortunate that some people have no idea or literary sense about how someone has attempted to utilize a concept of back to the basic nutritional needs rather than the overprocessed food which is reflected in God's world today. Some folks just can't let a day go by without getting on their soapbox to rant and rave in the name of God.
Wouldn't they be surprised if God said, 'I like this guy's approach. He's returning to some the views I had when I created this marvelous planet. He wants somewhat of a return to basics, perhaps a Garden of Eden view. But folks get all riled up when you don't keep my God in the Biblical sense which you must remember was written by men and that some claim it was God inspired. Ho Hum. Give the diet site a break. They are trying to show the variety of thinking which exists on how to live a healthful life, not save your soul. AMEN.

Oh my goodness! This is a diet website and you are taking offense to someone saying "the man upstairs." The doctor is perhaps trying to be more politically correct due to the fact that not everyone in the world (pretty much HALF) of the world is not Christian. I do agree with the doctor when he proclaims we must turn away from processed foods but I think it should be taken seriously by the manufacturers not only the consumers. What we need is more nutritional education and a change in eating habits as a whole.
