The blockbusting Body-for-Life program has evolved with the creation of a sister program which caters to the specific hormonal, metabolic and physiological needs of women. Dr. Pamela Peeke, a noted expert specializing in nutrition, metabolism, stress and fitness, has drawn on her experience to develop a diet, fitness and motivational program that helps women undergo a life-changing transformation in just 12 weeks.
Body-for-Life for Women espouses a guide for women dubbed the Mind-Mouth-Muscle Formula. This outline provides direction for maintaining optimum health during the four phases of hormonal milestones from menarch to beyond menopause. Peeke devises an eating, exercise and mental health plan customized for each stage of life.
Instead of laying down a bunch of stringent diet rules, Body-for-Life for Women takes greater care in emphasizing the importance of putting “you” first. One of the key factors in weight gain is that women fail to make themselves a priority. Peeke has created a virtual diary to help women keep track of the journey to better self-care. She also stresses the need for positive thinking and getting in the right mindset to succeed.
Body-for-Life for Women takes into account that women's fitness needs differ from men's. With that in mind, there is a gender-specific, detailed exercise program comprised of cardio and resistance training and flexibility exercises. As for the nutrition element of the program, Body-for-Life for Women provides a balanced nutritional program. For breakfast, enjoy 1 toasted light English muffin with a slice of light Swiss cheese, a slice of tomato and fresh basil, along with six ounces of low-sugar orange juice. Lunch is a fresh spinach salad with three ounces of diced chicken, fresh strawberries, poppy seeds and a splash of orange juice. For dinner, you'll indulge in ˝ breast baked chicken Parmesan, green beans, and fresh tomato and cucumber salad topped with vinegar, dill and a small amount olive oil.

Good overall, I like the program, however, not quite enough calories for some of us busy/active women. I could be wrong, but just a thought.:)

In general I liked the information presented, however, my wife is an 84 year old, now blind, diabetic who also has dementia, Alzheimer's and a non operating thyroid. Is this program adaptable to her condition?

Women, including myself, must be more diligent about putting themselves first instead of others. It is natural for most women to be caretakers. But as I tell my client's, if we do not take care of ourselves first, we cannot take care of those we love.
